Rose Cumberland - Clinical Psychologist

Rose is highly regarded amongst her colleagues and clients. She has a reputation as a warm, creative, thoughtful therapist, with a good sense of humour, committed to providing sensitive and effective treatments for a range of difficulties.

Experience

Rose has over six years' experience in inpatient and community mental health settings working with children, adolescents, adults and older people. Specific areas of experience and interest are:

  • Childhood anxiety, mood and behavioural difficulties
  • Adolescent self-esteem, mood regulation and anxiety problems
  • Adult mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, pain management, drug and alcohol, personality disturbance, psychosis
  • Older people's mental health problems (anxiety, depression, concerns relating to age-related health problems, mild cognitive impairment/early onset dementia)
  • Issues with body image, dieting disorders, anger management, grief and loss, self-esteem, parenting difficulties, pain management, perfectionism, exposure to a potentially traumatizing event, work stress

Training and Professional Development

Rose Cumberland is a qualified, experienced Clinical Psychologist who completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University, after a year working as a psychologist in a hospital and welfare setting. Rose also has attained Psychology Honours and membership to the Australian Psychological Society (APS). With ongoing clinical supervision and professional development (post her Masters qualification) Rose has membership of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and recognition by Medicare as a specialist provider of psychological services. She is registered as a psychologist and supervisor with the Psychologists’ Board of Australia (PBA), and is a member of the Australian Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (AACBT).

Research

During her Masters and Honours, Rose researched client-related barriers to therapeutic change that influence the progress of individual therapy, and, the relative accuracy of parental reports when estimating their child’s compliance rates.

Supervision

Both Simon Turmanis & Rose Cumberland are registered as supervisors with the Psychologists’ Board of Australia (PBA). Both are qualified to provide supervision for interns wishing to become registered with the NSW Registration Board AND/OR Clinical Psychologists wishing to become members of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
