Mental Health Care Plans

Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

The most common type of referral we get at our practice is the Mental Health Care Plan. This type of plan is completed by your general practitioner (GP) and allows you to attend  initially 6 individual sessions and 10 sessions at most per calendar year. Upon completion of the initial 6 individual sessions, and following a successful review/update with your GP, you are eligible to receive another 4 sessions of individual psychological treatment.

Your GP will determine your eligibility for this plan and for the review after 6 sessions. Should you wish to discuss this with your GP, please ensure that you book a longer than normal consultation.

Although a Medicare rebate can be claimed, there is generally a gap fee involved. Please see our Rebates/Fees  page for more information about this.
